GE 102 Engineering Computations Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 2 Credits: 3
Acquaints engineering students with the use and operation of the microcomputer, using a computer algebra system. Covers the code and programs that will be developed and used in the solution of typical engineering problems. Emphasizes structured programming techniques.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115 (or higher), or completion of WR 090 (or higher); and placement into MTH 112Z (or higher), or MTH 111Z , MTH 112Z , or MTH 251 (or higher); or consent of instructor. (All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.) Student Learning Outcomes:
- Use a computer algebra system to solve engineering problems.
- Program routines with a microcomputer.
- Perform mathematical operations for typical engineering problems.
- Identify the essentials of input and output.
- Apply structured program development to solutions.
- Debug programs and routines.
- Apply control structures to engineering computations.
- Use strategies to verify solutions.
