PE 185PC Personal Defense, Advanced Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 1
Presents an active self-defense course designed to introduce the knowledge and safety in self-defense. Uses elements of surprise and the principles of leverage as key factors in the methods. Prerequisite: PE 185PA and PE 185PB . Student Learning Outcomes: Beginning:
- Use correct techniques for warming up before working out.
- Describe and use techniques to increase endurance and flexibility.
- Perform problem-solving strategies when being attacked.
- Use action plans to participate in group self-defense attacks as well as individualized work.
- Perform as the aggressor as well as a defender.
- Perform twenty-one self-defense techniques.
Intermediate:
- Perform thirty-one self-defense techniques.
- Perform kicks using a kicking bag.
- Perform strikes and blocks using a punching bag.
Advanced:
- Perform thirty-one self-defense techniques.
- Respond to mass attacks..
