WR 102 APA Style Source Integration and Citation

Covers APA style paper format, clear source integration, and citation as a supplement to upper level college writing and writing intensive courses requiring research papers.

Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115 ; or completion of WR 090  (or higher), with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify the goals of formal citation and documentation .
  2. Use a writer’s handbook to locate APA paper format as well as appropriate in-text and works cited citation models.
  3. Identify when and where citations are needed in-text .
  4. Identify commonly required information for a variety of APA in-text citations.
  5. Identify and locate the required references information for different types of sources (print, electronic and online).
  6. Apply principles of APA style to properly signal source use as well as format in-text citations and references entries.
  7. Format an APA style paper.
  8. Use a variety of methods to clearly and grammatically integrate sources (paraphrase, summary, quotations).
  9. Identify appropriate versus inappropriate summary and paraphrase.
  10. Use technology critically and effectively to acknowledge sources and format paper.
