WS 102 Women of the World Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Examines women’s issues in a global context. Compares women’s lives from a cross-cultural perspective. Explores women’s lives within key social institutions. Focuses on human rights, globalization, environmental issues, and global stratification.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115 (or higher), or completion of WR 090 (or higher) with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the lives of women cross-culturally.
- Compare global variations within social institutions.
- Analyze the effect of global stratification in women’s lives.
- Describe feminism in a global context.
- Identify human rights issues and the impact of globalization on women’s lives.
- Examine the impact of environmental issues on women’s lives.
- Identify different feminist theories and methods of inquiry used in understanding women’s lives.
