MUS 212 - Music Theory 5

Expands upon the theoretical concepts introduced in the first year Music Theory sequence. Covers common practice melody, harmony, and voice leading, and demonstrates their analytical and compositional uses. Includes continued analysis and part-writing, secondary dominants and secondary leading-tone chords, modulations, formal structure, mode mixture, Neapolitan chords, augmented sixth chords, extended chords, chromatic mediants, altered dominants, and enharmonic spellings and modulations.

Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115  (or higher), or completion of WR 090  (or higher); and completion of MUS 211 ; or consent of the instructor. (All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.)
