BLD 158 - Construction Materials, Systems, and Drawings

Provides instruction in the techniques of interpreting construction drawings, particularly those in the civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing sections of blueprints. Covers basic terminology, abbreviations, and symbols, as well as the contents of construction notes, detail drawings, and schedules. Exercises students in determining linear dimensions using architect and engineer scales and viewing blueprints in plan, elevation, and section perspectives. Introduces the most common building materials and systems referenced in construction drawings. Familiarizes students with the building design and construction requirements for building design and construction.
