Provides an introduction to mass media with an emphasis on the role media play in both shaping and reflecting culture. Focuses on understanding how media operate with emphasis on contemporary social, economic, political, cultural and ethical issues.

Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115 (or higher), or completion of WR 090 (or higher) with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
