GEG 140 - Map Reading and Interpretation

Introduces basic concepts in reading, interpreting, and analyzing diverse social, cultural, and physical information from a variety of maps. Topics include map projections, map misuse, propaganda maps, grid systems, map scale, route planning, Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographic Information System (GIS), contour reading, satellite imagery, and computer-based mapping.

Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115  (or higher), or completion of WR 090  (or higher) with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
