AUM 253 Advanced Powertrain Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 8 Credits: 4
Focuses on repair and service of automotive internal combustion engines and automatic transmissions, including electronic control as well as other related powertrain components. Stresses speed and accuracy of diagnosis and repair. Builds on prior training.
Prerequisite: AUM 267 , AUM 282 , and AUM 286 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Differential Fee Yes Student Learning Outcomes:
- Use industry standard safe working practices in making repairs.
- Correctly use automotive hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Describe and demonstrate the communication required between tool room personnel, parts people, and customers.
- Use service manuals and online resources to perform accurate diagnosis
- Calculate shop flat rate on assigned repairs.
- Diagnose and repair or replace faulty components.
