BA 282 Applied Accounting Capstone Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Serves as a capstone assessment course for review and application of accounting skills previously studied in the Accounting program. Includes: completion of a year-end closing and analysis using accounting software, the preparation of a business tax return, and analyzing accounting best practices. Designed to prepare the student for the professional practice in an accounting career.
Prerequisite: CIS125E or BA225; BA 177 ; BA 256 ; and BA 228 , or consent of instructor. (All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.) Student Learning Outcomes:
- Analyze and record routine business transactions through the accounting cycle.
- Analyze and determine accounting best practices.
- Complete year-end financial statements and a full financial analysis.
- Prepare individual and business income tax return.
- Identify internal controls.
