ECE 163 Preschool Practicum Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 6 Credits: 4
Provides experience working with young children in a laboratory preschool setting. Assists with supervision of the various activities in a preschool program. Includes some curriculum planning for the young child.
Prerequisite: HDF 225 , HDF 247 , HDF 248 , and ECE 151 ; and consent of ECE faculty. (All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.) Student Learning Outcomes:
- Perform in the role of a preschool aide.
- Identify the teacher’s role and other staff responsibilities.
- Practice communicating and working cooperatively and effectively with others.
- Supervise children using appropriate guidance techniques.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support the development of all children
