FRP 292 Fire Incident Related Experience 5 Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Provides education and training based on NFPA 1001 Firefighter II to include implementation of IMS, safely and effectively leading a firefighting team, fire department communications and reports, use of hose tools and appliances and identification of construction materials and building collapse. Students will have continued practicum in NFPA Firefighter I skill set as part of evolution-based training.
Prerequisite: FRP 291 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the Incident Management System sections of FEMA (NIMS) ICS 200 and program procedures.
- Demonstrate communication procedures related to initiating and reporting responses, according to program procedures.
- Coordinate an interior attack line for a team’s accomplishment of an assignment in a structure fire.
- Identify construction materials and how those materials may influence fire behavior and structural stability during structural firefighting operations.
- Demonstrate how to flow test, perform an inspection and exterior maintenance on a fire hydrant.
- Demonstrate the use of hose adapters and appliances to secure a supply line or place an attack line into service.
- Demonstrate continued proficiency in NFPA Firefighter I fireground operations skills.
