APR 266L CAD for Apprenticeship

Incorporates hands-on experience with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software. Introduces standard graphics commands for two-dimensional drawings. Most students will use AutoCAD, but other general-purpose CAD software can also be used.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Use draw commands to accurately generate prescribed shapes. 
  2. Utilize modify functions to edit and enhance drawings. 
  3. Create blocks and insert them into drawings. 
  4. Apply text and dimensions in drawings. 
  5. Utilize Object Snap modes with the graphics digitizer (mouse). 
  6. Use polar and rectangular coordinate systems to create drawings. 
  7. Use file commands to save and retrieve drawings. 
  8. Create and use layers to organize drawing information. 
  9. Differentiate between model space and layout space objects. 
  10. Use Zoom and Pan commands to navigate within drawing environment.
