AUM 273 Automatic Transmissions and Transaxles 2 Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 8 Credits: 4
Focuses on diagnosis, repair, and service of a vehicle’s powertrain with emphasis on automatic transmission and automotive transaxles. Includes electronic transmission diagnostics. Emphasizes speed and accuracy in diagnosis and repair. Builds on prior training.
Prerequisite: AUM 267 , AUM 282 , and AUM 286 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Use industry standard safe working practices in making repairs.
- Apply industry safety standards to the use of automotive hand and power tools.
- Describe the communication between tool room personnel, parts people, and customers.
- Use service manuals to diagnose and repair powertrain systems, including automatic transmissions and transaxles.
- Calculate shop flat rate on assigned repairs.
