AUM 273 Automatic Transmissions and Transaxles 2

Focuses on diagnosis, repair, and service of a vehicle’s powertrain with emphasis on automatic transmission and automotive transaxles. Includes electronic transmission diagnostics. Emphasizes speed and accuracy in diagnosis and repair. Builds on prior training.

Prerequisite: AUM 267 , AUM 282 , and AUM 286 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Use industry standard safe working practices in making repairs. 
  2. Apply industry safety standards to the use of automotive hand and power tools. 
  3. Describe the communication between tool room personnel, parts people, and customers. 
  4. Use service manuals to diagnose and repair powertrain systems, including automatic transmissions and transaxles. 
  5. Calculate shop flat rate on assigned repairs.
