AUM 284 Rechargeable Energy Storage Systems Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 4
Prepares students for future industry and environmental needs by providing advanced training in the operation and testing of RESS (rechargeable energy storage systems) and related sub systems currently used in the automotive industry and a variety of other green industries.
Prerequisite: AUM 282 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the theory and operation of battery systems.
- Use test equipment to analyze and diagnose battery systems.
- Describe the differences in construction of batteries and there use in RESS.
- Perform needed repairs to battery systems.
- Apply industry practices associated with recycling of battery components.
- Keep records of the diagnostic process and generate a final report.
