BA 231 Fundamentals of Transportation and Logistics Management

Examines logistics as a key part of supply chain management that plans, implements, and controls the flow and storage of goods, services, and related information between points of origin and points of consumption.

Recommended: BA 234  and BA 236 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify the fundamentals of logistics management. 
  2. Recognize transportation as a central part of logistics management. 
  3. Identify the different categories of inventory and effective management of inventories by considering the relationships between inventory, transportation, and logistics management. 
  4. Assess financial impact of indirect spend on company performance. 
  5. Recognize modern issues impacting the role of third party logistics providers.
  6. Describe the three types of performance benchmarking: operational, strategic, and support-activity.
