BI 232 Human Anatomy and Physiology 2

Lecture Hours: 3
Lab Hours: 3
Credits: 4

The second of a three-term sequence in-depth examination of human form and function.  Includes the muscular, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, and respiratory systems.

Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115   (or higher), or completion of WR 090   (or higher); and completion of BI 231   within the last seven years; or consent of instructor. (All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.)
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Analyze fundamental scientific concepts, models and theories that relate to the muscular, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, and respiratory systems.
  2. Solve problems, investigate information and draw conclusions about the function of the muscular, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, and respiratory systems.
  3. Connect the structure and function of the muscular, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, and respiratory systems to everyday activities and situations.
  4. Demonstrates understanding of the structure and operation of the muscular, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, and respiratory systems through laboratory study.

Statewide General Education Outcomes:

  1. Gather, comprehend, and communicate scientific and technical information in order to explore ideas, models, and solutions and generate further questions.

  1. Apply scientific and technical modes of inquiry, individually, and collaboratively, to critically evaluate existing or alternative explanations, solve problems, and make evidence-based decisions in an ethical manner.

  1. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of scientific studies and critically examine the influence of scientific and technical knowledge on human society and the environment.
