BLD 153 Building Codes 3

Provides a comprehensive review of the International Building Code including pedestrian protection, permanent occupancy, prefabricated construction, fire systems, energy conservation, and architectural barriers.

Prerequisite: BLD 152  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Assess pedestrian protection requirements for buildings under construction. 
  2. Explain the different provisions for restrooms and plumbing fixtures in buildings 
  3. Inspect energy conservation requirements and features for new buildings 
  4. Identify requirements for safety glazing. 
  5. Explain how to apply the provisions for plastic used in a building. 
  6. Analyze the requirements for elevators in a building. 
  7. Interpret the International Building Code in a manner consistent with the standards for building inspectors.
