Provides code standards and conditions typical of building inspection work for inspectors in the following areas: mechanical inspection, structural inspection, and one- and two-family dwelling codes. Stresses writing correction notices based on field observations.

Prerequisite: BLD 142 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:

Apply code requirements to buildings at the time of construction
Verify building location on property and foundation setbacks meet requirements.
Apply code requirements to the various materials used in building construction.
Identify the variety of inspections required at various stages of construction.
Evaluate the design and application of building egress systems
Identify and define all building uses by their building code classifications.
Write technical reports and correction notices of inspection findings.
