BT 105 Business English 2

Emphasizes effective business writing by focusing on proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Covers the writing of business-related paragraphs.

Prerequisite: BT 104  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Combine simple ideas into compound and complex sentences and punctuate correctly. 
  2. Identify and solve sentence problems (fragments, comma splices, and run-ons). 
  3. Compose business-related paragraphs and multi-paragraph documents in a clear, coherent manner that satisfies academic and professional standards, including the correct use of spelling, punctuation, verb and person tenses, pronoun agreement, parallelism, numbers, transition phrases and words, and modifiers. 
  4. Evaluate business-related writing for tone, jargon, and other word choice considerations that could affect the reader’s reaction to the writing. 
  5. Efficiently use reference tools.
