DRF 241 Structural Drafting

Introduces light commercial construction practices. Covers production of working drawings using AutoCAD software. Also covers drafting practices applied with the building materials of steel and concrete.

Prerequisite: DRF 131  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  • Produce a foundation drawing of a commercial building. 
  • Produce a working drawing of a commercial warehouse. 
  • Demonstrate proper dimensioning practices. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of welding symbols. 
  • Translate data from the structural steel manual to a working drawing. 
  • Produce a drawing using the grid system. 
  • Produce detail drawings. 
  • Produce column and footing schedules.
