ECE 153 Music and Movement for Young Children

Presents the value of music in the preschool setting, the role of the teacher, environments that support music and movement experiences, basic music terminology and concepts, and the use of spontaneous and planned activities for young children.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Use techniques to build upon the innate musical abilities of rhythm, pitch, and movement with children of all abilities
  2. Lead children in a variety of songs, movement experiences, and listening experiences
  3. Create and use musical instruments which are appropriate for young children.
  4. Explain how music and movement meet the developmental needs of typically and atypically developing children ages birth to8.
  5. Use and build upon resources from class to plan and implement music and movement activities.
