ELT 293 Flexible Manufacturing Systems and Processes

oolean algebra, combinational logic and sequential logic. Lab exercises cover programming of industrial robots and programmable logic controllers. Covers SCADA equipment and use in an industrial environment. Begins MES and ERP overview and related software use. Develops the problem solving abilities utilizing SPC and quality control charts. Promotes and supports sustainable and green technologies.

Prerequisite: MTH 082 ; and PH 121  (or concurrent enrollment); or consent of instructor. (All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.)
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Develop control systems using combinations of valves, switches, relays and solid state electronics. 
  2. Program and control motion of an industrial robot. 
  3. Design basic schematics for logic, electrical relay and valve circuits. 
  4. Program and test ladder circuits on a programmable controller. 
  5. Use basic control charts to determine production status.
