FE 120 Career Jump Start

Introduces the realities of the world of work for undecided students and students in any chosen academic program. Emphasizes gaining an understanding of careers and internships; and creating an effective educational and career plan through graduation, making the most of college education to prepare for future employment.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify employability skills desirable to industry and work site.  
  2. Construct an informational interview and job shadowing plan.  
  3. Practice workplace habits and ethics as required by industry. 
  4. Utilize critical thinking in networking and communication situations. 
  5. Assess and articulate personal career goals, personality type, values, skills, learning styles, and interests as they apply to a specific career. 
  6. Formulate and present a career plan based on research. 
  7. Develop strategies to overcome obstacles and lack of skills in any chosen career. 
  8. Work effectively as a member of a diverse team. 
  9. Identify the value of an internship in gaining employment.
