HE 252 First Aid and CPR Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Provides accepted safety, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, philosophy, techniques, and procedures that will enable students to appropriately cope with emergencies ranging from minor to life-threatening. Upon successful completion, students may earn a completion card from the American Heart Association.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115 (or higher), or completion of WR 090 (or higher) with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe and assess moral and legal implications of administering temporary care.
- Identify and discuss abilities and limitations as a caregiver.
- Demonstrate the ability to quickly problem solve and apply appropriate response skills required in most emergencies on adult, child, and infant victims.
- Promote safety awareness concepts to enhance individual and group health and safety.
- Demonstrate skill proficiency in first aid, cardiorespiratory resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
