HM 170 Healthcare Revenue Cycle 1

Offers the skills needed to understand the revenue cycle timeline, understand billing laws, solve insurance billing problems, and how to manually and electronically file claims in an intensive billing course.

Prerequisite: Completion of HM 113  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explain the 10 steps in the revenue cycle. 
  2. Compare the intent of HIPAA HITECH and ACA laws 
  3. Assess the benefits of a compliance plan 
  4. Summarize the use of encounter forms 
  5. Evaluate the importance of certification for career advancement. 
  6. Understand a basic overview of diagnostic and procedural coding 
  7. Compare the 3 major methods of electronic claims
