JNL 215 Publications Lab


Lab Hours: 4
Credits: 2

Covers practical application of journalism, photojournalism, and newspaper production skills through work on the student newspaper.

Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115  (or higher), or completion of WR 090  (or higher) with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Repeatable: Course may be repeated for a maximum of 12 credits.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Apply a journalist’s ethics, legal responsibilities, and objectivity to a working newspaper environment. 
  2. Be resourceful and persistent in pursuing and establishing campus and relevant community news sources. 
  3. Meet strict newspaper deadlines while maintaining industry quality standards of work. 
  4. Describe the management and work flow of a newspaper operation. 
  5. Explain knowledge, skills, and experience required for potential employment in the journalism field.
