JNL 215 Publications Lab Lab Hours: 4 Credits: 2
Covers practical application of journalism, photojournalism, and newspaper production skills through work on the student newspaper.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115 (or higher), or completion of WR 090 (or higher) with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Repeatable: Course may be repeated for a maximum of 12 credits. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Apply a journalist’s ethics, legal responsibilities, and objectivity to a working newspaper environment.
- Be resourceful and persistent in pursuing and establishing campus and relevant community news sources.
- Meet strict newspaper deadlines while maintaining industry quality standards of work.
- Describe the management and work flow of a newspaper operation.
- Explain knowledge, skills, and experience required for potential employment in the journalism field.

- Weekly publication of the student newspaper throughout the term.
