 Covers pedagogy of the cello, including fundamentals of music, reading, and theory; beneficial practice habits; repertoire for the cello; interpretation; and performance techniques.
 
 Repeatable: Students may repeat this course for a maximum of 9 credits.

	Use correct posture to enhance instrument production and utilize proper breathing techniques.Employ correct tone production and exhibit a working knowledge of the cello.Demonstrate a familiarity with appropriate musical terms and symbols.Discuss selected musical periods and styles.Use effective practice habits, including technique exercises and the identification and rehearsing of difficult passages.Interpret his/her musical repertoire.Memorize simple passages and/or pieces and perform an assigned number of pieces.Exhibit increased self-confidence through use of performance techniques.
