MUP 106 String Orchestra

Offers an introductory instrumental experience that focuses on performing standard string ensemble literature of many styles. Emphasizes beginning ensemble skills and musicality in various strings performance practices.

Repeatable: Students may repeat this course for a maximum of 9 credits.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Use proper string and bowing techniques for rehearsal and performance.
  2. Develop proficiency in reading, playing, and performing selected pieces.
  3. Recognize and identify basic elements of music by sound and from notation.
  4. Apply knowledge of a variety of musical styles and periods to pieces played.
  5. Perform a number of string orchestra pieces.
  6. Apply the discipline and self-control necessary as an ensemble performer.
