MUP 175 Concert Choir

Offers singing in a non-auditioned mixed voice (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) choir. Includes instruction in proper singing habits, basic musical terms and expressions, rehearsal technique procedures, and exposure to a wide variety of music literature, culminating in a final performance.

Repeatable: Students may repeat this course for a maximum of 9 credits.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Understand and use healthy ensemble singing habits, including proper breathing and posture 
  2. Use proper vocal tone production. 
  3. Develop proficiency in reading, singing, and performing selected pieces. 
  4. Recognize and identify basic elements of music by sound and from notation 
  5. Interpret the texts of the music being studied. 
  6. Apply knowledge of musical styles and periods to the music. 
  7. Use techniques and resources to prepare assigned music for performance. 
  8. Perform a number of songs in concert.
