NUR 150 Intro to Advanced Wound Care Lecture Hours: 1 Credits: 1
Introduces the principle of advanced wound care, including assessment, development of a plan of care, and coordination of care with the health care team. Emphasizes evidence-based practices in wound care including current standards of practice.
Prerequisite: Current nursing student; or current licensure as a LPN or RN. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Define wound assessment characteristics.
- Describe the etiology of pressure, venous stasis, arterial and neuropathic ulcers.
- Identify wound management interventions based on evidenced based healing principles.
- Discuss wound bed preparation utilizing evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Develop a plan of care for special wound care needs.
- Identify adjunctive treatment modalities.
- Appraise nutritional management in wound healing.
- Evaluate quality of care and coordination of services.
- Discuss legal/ethical aspects of advanced wound care.
