Provides instruction in cross country skiing on tracked and untracked terrain.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Beginning 

  1. Straight walk with skis. 
  2. Execute a walk with a glide. 
  3. Identify and perform a step and a skating turn. 
  4. Apply the climbing techniques of straight hills, herringbone, and side step. 
  5. Perform the downhill glide, downhill wedge, and step into a wedge. 
  6. Apply skier courtesy rules. 
  7. Identify skier safety. 
  8. Select proper skis and clothing.  

Intermediate 

  1. Identify and perform a stride turn, slight telemark, diagonal, and a skating turn. 
  2. Execute a single pole, double pole, and uphill diagonal stride. 
  3. Perform a skating traverse. 
  4. Perform telemarking. 
  5. Integrate skier safety into skiing.
