Provides instruction in cross country skiing on tracked and untracked terrain.
Student Learning Outcomes: Beginning
- Straight walk with skis.
- Execute a walk with a glide.
- Identify and perform a step and a skating turn.
- Apply the climbing techniques of straight hills, herringbone, and side step.
- Perform the downhill glide, downhill wedge, and step into a wedge.
- Apply skier courtesy rules.
- Identify skier safety.
- Select proper skis and clothing.
Intermediate
- Identify and perform a stride turn, slight telemark, diagonal, and a skating turn.
- Execute a single pole, double pole, and uphill diagonal stride.
- Perform a skating traverse.
- Perform telemarking.
- Integrate skier safety into skiing.
