Develop and participate in a jogging or running program to gain and maintain cardiorespiratory fitness.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Beginning

  1. Identify short-term and long-term fitness goals.
  2. Assess beginning and ending fitness levels (cardiorespiratory, flexibility, body composition).
  3. Define the criteria necessary to gain and maintain fitness.
  4. Describe the benefits derived from jogging.
  5. Improve cardiovascular fitness.
  6. Participate in group or individualized activities.
  7. Perform a “long run.”
  8. Demonstrate an awareness of safety precautions to take while jogging.

Intermediate

  1. Meet beginning objectives.
  2. Perform correct jogging/running form.
  3. Jog for a longer time or farther than the beginner.
  4. Discuss safety precautions for injury prevention.
  5. Identify caloric expenditure for workouts.
  6. Identify target zone for cardiorespiratory fitness.
