PHM 101 Introduction to Pharmacy Technology Lecture Hours: 1 Credits: 1
Introduces the job responsibilities and knowledge and skills required of a pharmacy technician. Overviews assisting the pharmacist in collecting, organizing, and evaluating information for direct patient care.
Prerequisite: Enrollment in the Pharmacy Technician program. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Differentiate between pharmacist and pharmacy technician responsibilities and tasks.
- Explain the value of certification to the profession.
- Differentiate and name organizations related to the practice of pharmacy.
- Describe the role of the pharmacy technician in equipment and facilities maintenance.
- Discuss the purpose of inventory control.
- Explain ways to collect, organize, and evaluate patient information.
- Propose the value of patient counseling in the role of the pharmacy technician.
