PHM 150 Pharmacy Tech Practicum Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 18 Credits: 7
Provides pharmaceutical workplace experience in a healthcare or related setting.
Prerequisite: Third-term standing in the Pharmacy Technician program. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the standard operating procedures of the worksite and the characteristics of a pharmacy setting.
- Accept direction from the pharmacist and/or pharmacy manager.
- Prepare medications for distribution in a variety of health-system settings.
- Practice professional and ethical behaviors and a caring attitude toward patients.
- Participate as an effective healthcare team member.
- Provide quality customer service by identifying and addressing customer needs.
- Organize and maintain patient records.
- Maintain confidentiality as it pertains to patients and the pharmacy.
- Use technology to maximize work efficiency.
- Uses techniques to assist pharmacist in improving direct patient care.
- Communicate clearly with customers and pharmacy staff.
- Apply standards to assist pharmacist with quality assurance of pharmaceutical.
