PHM 150 Pharmacy Tech Practicum

Provides pharmaceutical workplace experience in a healthcare or related setting.

Prerequisite: Third-term standing in the Pharmacy Technician program.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Describe the standard operating procedures of the worksite and the characteristics of a pharmacy setting.
  2. Accept direction from the pharmacist and/or pharmacy manager.
  3. Prepare medications for distribution in a variety of health-system settings.
  4. Practice professional and ethical behaviors and a caring attitude toward patients.
  5. Participate as an effective healthcare team member.
  6. Provide quality customer service by identifying and addressing customer needs.
  7. Organize and maintain patient records.
  8. Maintain confidentiality as it pertains to patients and the pharmacy.
  9. Use technology to maximize work efficiency.
  10. Uses techniques to assist pharmacist in improving direct patient care.
  11. Communicate clearly with customers and pharmacy staff.
  12. Apply standards to assist pharmacist with quality assurance of pharmaceutical.
