The Emergency Medical Technician certificate is a career pathway certificate. All courses are contained in the Paramedicine AAS Degree and students may have the opportunity to continue to become qualified to be a paramedic. Paramedics may be employed by ambulance companies, fire departments, police departments, and industries. There is a great demand for EMTs and paramedics, both locally and nationally.

Program Outcomes

Students  completing this certificate should be able to satisfy the following outcomes:

  1.  Access patients and apply treatment protocols in emergency medical situations.
  2. Use oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively in anxiety producing situations with patients, families, and members of the health care team.
  3. Perform all basic life support skills in a safe and timely manner.
  4. Provide on-scene leadership in emergency medical care situations.
  5. Apply professional values and ethical behaviors individually and as a member of a team in providing emergency care.

You may earn a certificate of completion by successfully completing the required 12 credit hours with a grade of “C” or better in all courses.
