ANES 102 Anesthesia Equipment: Principles and Applications Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Learn and handle basic and complex anesthesia equipment and airway management devices. Create algorithms and strategies for preparation and use. Practice set up and troubleshoot routine and complex equipment.
Prerequisite: ANES 104 with a grade of C or better; and concurrent enrollment in ANES 130 and ANES 105 ; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate appropriate psychomotor skills in the preparation of basic anesthesia equipment.
- Describe regulatory compliance requirements for adherence to policies regarding anesthesia equipment.
- Demonstrate set-up and use of complex anesthesia equipment.
- Practice diagnosis and documentation of minor repair of anesthesia equipment for proper function and maintenance including cleaning.
- Describe safety and asepsis techniques in machine maintenance
- Compare and contrast various sterilization and cleaning procedures used to clean anesthesia equipment.
- Describe the necessary equipment used in the function of the anesthesia gas machine.
- Prepare anesthesia equipment for proper disposal, cleaning, and sterilization requirements.
