ANES 105 Anesthesia Technology Lab 3

Credits: 4

Builds on competencies learned during Anesthesia Lab 2 and practice advanced anesthesia competencies. Includes but not limited to; advanced airway algorithms, advanced troubleshooting, advanced anesthesia equipment set up maintenance and troubleshooting, advanced rapid response to airway management crisis, care and use of emergency airway management devices, and hemodynamic monitoring equipment set up maintenance and troubleshooting.

Prerequisite: ANES 104  with a grade of C or better; and concurrent enrollment in ANES 130  and ANES 102 ; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Apply didactic knowledge of use of appropriate airway equipment in simulation exercises for the basic and complex patient.  
  2. Perform psychomotor skills in the selection of proper anesthesia equipment for surgical cases. 
  3. Demonstrate set-up and function of advanced equipment for anesthesia care. 
  4. Apply Anesthesiology process and critical thinking to the care of the surgical patient at the advanced level. 
  5. Describes advanced airway algorithms. 
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of emergency response and procedures in the scope of Anesthesia Technology.
