ANES 212A Anesthesia Technology Clinical Practicum 3A


Lab Hours: 12
Credits: 4

Third course of a three course sequence to be completed in the first half of the term. Apply knowledge of clinical skills and work ethic during the anesthesia technologist clinical rotation. Practice job search skills for an entry-level position as an anesthesia technologist.

Prerequisite: ANES 211  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Corequisite: ANES 215 .
Concurrent: ANES 212B  
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate clinical application of skills acquired from previous didactic, laboratory coursework, and practicum in the patient care setting. 
  2. Complete capstone project 
  3. Differentiate between the various types of more complex anesthesia equipment and instrumentation. 
  4. Write a comprehensive plan of care in conjunction with the anesthesia care provider in preparation for the complex surgical patient.  
  5. Manage an anesthesia care environment to ensure proper function of various anesthesia equipment used in cardiac, neurological, and trauma surgeries.    
  6. Demonstrate the characteristics of an effective leader in communicating with other anesthesia providers in the care of complex surgical cases.   
  7. Compare and contrast the various modalities used in peripheral nerve blocks.
