APR 153B Electrician Apprenticeship AC/DC Circuits

Credits: 5

Provides training for the Inside Wire Electrician Apprentice. Covers mathematical formulas of equations, basic AC theory, use of test equipment, and applicable Oregon Electrical Specialty Code. Includes safety procedures.

Prerequisite: APR 153A  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Solve mathematics formulas and equations related to theory and practices of the trade. 
  2. Describe and apply basic theory of electrical sources in AC circuits series and parallel circuits series, parallel circuits, and point-to-point methods for short circuit calcualations. 
  3. Use of test equipment to make electrical measurements. 
  4. Develop an understanding of the NEC to interpret and comply with applicable code requirements. 
  5. Obtain certification for basic first aid and CPR training.
