APR 256G HVAC/R Apprenticeship-Intermediate 4 Lecture Hours: 4 Lab Hours: 2 Credits: 5
Focuses on operational sequences of HVAC controls, basic refrigeration concepts, and compressor replacement. Designed for Oregon State recognized apprentices working in the HVAC/R trade.
Prerequisite: APR 156F with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Identify various types of HVAC equipment mounting hardware and fasteners.
- Select the appropriate electrical wiring terminations for installation and service of HVAC equipment and controls.
- Troubleshoot failures and malfunctions with HVAC control circuit and load components.
- Explain the basic refrigeration cycle and identify possible failures.
- Replace refrigeration compressors using the proper procedure.
