APR 256G HVAC/R Apprenticeship-Intermediate 4

Focuses on operational sequences of HVAC controls, basic refrigeration concepts, and compressor replacement. Designed for Oregon State recognized apprentices working in the HVAC/R trade.

Prerequisite: APR 156F  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify various types of HVAC equipment mounting hardware and fasteners. 
  2. Select the appropriate electrical wiring terminations for installation and service of HVAC equipment and controls. 
  3. Troubleshoot failures and malfunctions with HVAC control circuit and load components.  
  4. Explain the basic refrigeration cycle and identify possible failures. 
  5. Replace refrigeration compressors using the proper procedure.
