CIS 195 Web Site Development

Covers web site planning, organization, and implementation. Explores web development applications. Discusses HTML, style sheets, and basic scripting. Addresses accessibility, browsers compatibility, and globalization issues.

Prerequisite: CIS 178I  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Implement a web site design process to plan a user centered web site.
  2. List and use web site design best practices.
  3. Compare and review various web development tools. 
  4. Discuss HTML and its role in web design. 
  5. Describe CSS and its role in web design. 
  6. Identify uses of scripting languages to provide web site functionality. 
  7. Discuss accessibility issues and propose resolutions to existing web sites. 
  8. Evaluate an existing Web site to recommend changes to increase its impact and effectiveness. 
  9. Develop strategies for web development that conform to W3C specifications. 
  10. Explain the importance of usability in web site design.
