CJ 261F Law Enforcement Related Experience 6 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 6 Credits: 6
LERE 6 focuses on topics, training, and practical application covered in the LERE coursework that aligns with best practices and the most modern techniques used in the law enforcement profession. Involves an overview of criminal Oregon Revised Statutes as related to sex crimes and their investigation and successful testimonial evidence collection through the learning and applying of Cognitive Interviewing techniques. Introduces the abilities needed for success through learning and applying hostage/barricaded subject communications, building clearing, crime scene forensics, emergency vehicle operations, and writing a use of force report. Covers emotional survival, defensive tactics skill building, physical fitness training, confrontation simulations involving high risk situations, and the operation of drones in criminal and non-criminal investigations.
Prerequisite: CJ 261E with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Locate criminal sex related crimes in the Oregon Criminal Code Book.
- Describe the purpose of emotional survival as it relates to the on-the-job performance and off duty quality of life.
- Describe the importance of a use of force report and perform the skill of writing this type of police report.
- Operate a police vehicle in emergency operations following all safety and legal guidelines.
- Perform an Advanced Criminal Investigation following all guidelines as set through statute, Constitutional law, and court direction.
- Perform learned defensive tactics skills and less lethal use, while abiding under current use of force case law, in a confrontational contact in a high-risk situation.
