CVL 144 Intermediate Civil Survey

Continues CVL 143 Introduction to Civil Survey . Covers plane survey office and field practices. Includes measurement techniques associated with differential leveling and field measurements with advanced electronic survey equipment. Includes basic office calculations relating to surveying, including coordinate geometry, differential levels and simple curves. Covers field survey procedures for staking horizontal curves, data collection and differential levels. Introduces a basic understanding of metes and bounds descriptions. Emphasizes professional-technical development and team work skills.

Prerequisite: CVL 143  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Corequisite: MTH 082  or higher.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Write a basic metes and bounds description. 
  2. Use basic survey calculation for simple curves, coordinate geometry and elevation control. 
  3. Use oral and written communication skills in working as an individual or a member of a team.
