HM 121 Medical Terminology 2 Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Focuses on the urinary, female and male reproductive, endocrine, and nervous systems; sensory organs; cancer medicine; radiology and nuclear medicine; and psychiatry. Explores the origin of terms and the use of anatomical, general, operative, and symptomatic terms using a variety of case-based and experiential learning techniques.
Prerequisite: HM 120 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Analyze, build, spell, and pronounce system specific medical terms.
- Use medical terms to describe the human body systems: anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Describe diagnosis, laboratory tests, and related reports.
- Analyze patient data using reports and diagnoses from case studies.
- Review and evaluate medical literature for content, interpretation, and pronunciation of terms.
- Identify and use electronic medical databases for further explanation of medical terms.
