HM 121 Medical Terminology 2

Focuses on the urinary, female and male reproductive, endocrine, and nervous systems; sensory organs; cancer medicine; radiology and nuclear medicine; and psychiatry. Explores the origin of terms and the use of anatomical, general, operative, and symptomatic terms using a variety of case-based and experiential learning techniques.

Prerequisite: HM 120  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Analyze, build, spell, and pronounce system specific medical terms. 
  2. Use medical terms to describe the human body systems: anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment. 
  3. Describe diagnosis, laboratory tests, and related reports. 
  4. Analyze patient data using reports and diagnoses from case studies. 
  5. Review and evaluate medical literature for content, interpretation, and pronunciation of terms. 
  6. Identify and use electronic medical databases for further explanation of medical terms.
