SLD 125 Student Representation 2 Lecture Hours: 1 Credits: 1
Prepares second year lead ASC students to serve the mission of the program in a responsible, ethical, and professional manner while managing the goals of the whole membership. Introduces advanced skills and tools related to ASC tasks; training, evaluation, advocacy and recognition.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115 (or higher), or completion of WR 090 (or higher); and completion of SLD 124 ; and be a member of the incoming Associated Students of Chemeketa (ASC) Executive Board; or consent of instructor. (All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.) Student Learning Outcomes:
- Evaluate public administration practices in comparison to other schools and develop proposals to improve student government operations.
- Critique their own public communication, organization and meeting management styles.
- Anticipate the needs of the ASC team members they will work with (e.g. Exec Board, Council, and Storm Front volunteers).
- Reflect on the prior year’s progress and develop a set of strategies for meeting ASC goals, problem solving, conflict resolution, and leadership challenges.
- Choose a plan for personal and professional balance that assists in their serving their ASC term of office.
