VC 239 Web Design 3 Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Further develops advanced techniques and skills needed to plan, design, build and launch complex web sites using industry standard technologies and web editors. Focuses on building sophisticated web sites using Web standards including Cascading Style Sheets and HTML, and on the study of web hosting, web statistics, content management systems, and other advanced topics in web design.
Prerequisite: VC 238 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Plan, design and implement advanced web sites for both desktop and mobile browsers.
- Write standards-based code to create web pages.
- Use advanced Cascading Style Sheet techniques for layout, typography and interactivity.
- Apply advanced file and folder management techniques.
- Evaluate and procure web hosting services.
- Perform basic installation, configuration, and integration of Content Management Systems.
- Apply technical and design concepts as they relate to web publishing.
- Evaluate and implement Web analytics software and understand best practices for search engine optimization.
